Estate and Trust Administration Paralegal

Job Description:

Any applicant MUST have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Trust and Estate Administration. The perfect candidate must be well organized and be able to handle important deadlines. The position will work under the Trust and Estate Paralegal for training and assisting with daily tasks and management of files and will ultimately become the department manager. This person will assist with the preparation and filing of inventories and accountings; draft correspondence, real estate deeds, business transfer documents, certificates of trust, pleadings pertaining to estate and trust administration, and all other documents related to probate and trust administration matters; assist clients with trust funding issues and draft funding transfer documents as necessary under supervision of attorney; maintain Firm templates; work closely with Firm Attorneys, Commissioners of Accounts and their auditors, and court clerks as needed; monitor suspense dates; respond to general client inquiries regarding non-legal matters; serve as liaison between client and attorney; maintain assigned client files; and perform legal research as assigned. Until such time as the Trust and Estate Administration Paralegal position becomes full-time, the paralegal in this position will work with the Firm’s estate planning paralegals on drafting estate planning and other documents and help with general office administration.

Commensurate with experience. Range $46,000 – $51,000

 

Estate Planning Drafting Paralegal

Job Description

This is a full-time, in-office position for an Estate Planning Drafting Paralegal, located in Williamsburg, VA. The Drafting Paralegal prepares any and all documents pertaining to estate planning for clients from instructions given by attorney; responds to general client inquiries regarding non-legal matters; assists clients with trust funding issues; drafts funding transfer documents as necessary under supervision of attorney; monitors suspense dates; serves as liaison between client and attorney as necessary; and maintains assigned client files and suspense dates.

Position Specifications

1. Education: Paralegal training in the drafting of Wills, Trusts, and other types of Estate Planning Documents; or

2. Experience: Must have worked as an estate and trust drafting paralegal in a law firm for a minimum of 2 years.

3. Skills & Abilities: Good typing skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and HotDocs required; familiarity with Tabs 3/Practice Master is preferred, but some experience with case management software is required; strong organizational skills and attention to detail mandatory; ability to work independently required; ability to get along with others and communicate effectively is a must; team player.
